Geoff was born in Jesmond Dene and brought up in rural Northumberland, England. As a teenager countless nature forays along the banks of the River Wansbeck would often be rewarded by a fleeting glimpse of a kingfisher, a leaping salmon making its arduous journey up river; or watching tens of thousands of elvers from the stepping stones below the historic, Bothal Castle. These experiences nurtured a deep respect and passion for nature and one that has only increased over the years. During his formative years he took up water-colour painting as a hobby and drew inspiration from a number of wildlife artists, Keith Shackleton, Sir Peter Scott and J.C. Harrison. A chance meeting with eminent wildlife artist Charles Tunnicliffe only served to fuel his desire to capture natural history in one form of media or another. In 1995 he lay down the brushes in favour of the camera and the aspiration to work as a professional photographer was born partly out of a desire to reacquaint and document the various expressions of nature he had witnessed and to present his encounters to a wider audience through various forms of visual media. Geoff has been described in Practical Photography magazine as a photographer of outstanding ability and in both Digital Camera and Photography Monthly magazines as one of today's most inspirational nature photographers with an exceptional eye for detail.

He specialises in capturing evocative images of the natural world, with a particular interest in chronicling the biodiversity of ecosystems found throughout the British Isles and Iberia Peninsula. A committed conservationist and naturalist first and foremost with an in-depth knowledge of European diurnal Lepidoptera and Old World Chameleons. His travels todate have taken him from the remote Stora Sjöfallet National Park in arctic Sweden, the cork-forests and steppe plains of Alentejo, Portugal, the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Andalusía, Spain, the Bandi-Asahi National Park, Japan and to the remote upland rainforests of the Eastern Arc and Uluguru Mountains of Tanzania. There exists many thousands of points in between, all endowed with incredible biodiversity, culture and natural beauty that inspires Geoff in so many different ways.
