click on the image to return to images of the month 2009 JUNE 2009 Polytrichum commune Taken at first light on a perfectly calm morning in the Peak District National Park where these distinctive mounds of Polytrichum commune covered the area as far as the eye could see. By positioning my new Canon 17mm TS-E f4L lens and Lee polarising filter at right-angles to the rising sun (4.52 a.m.) I was able to gain maximum colour saturation and highlight the glancing sunlight which accentuated the spore heads of each mound. Canon 1DMkII - 17mm TS-E f4L lens - f/8 @ 1/15 sec. - ISO50 - Lee polarising filter - Gitzo 1548 tripod ___________________________________________________________________________________________ all content © Geoff Simpson Photography Ltd 2000-2009 • all rights reserved |
