Back in 2001 when engaged as a field editor for the popular website www.naturephotographers.net I became acquainted with American nature photographer Charles Glatzer who was advertising a style of tuition that greatly interested me as a former IT consultant I instantly recognised the benefit of individual tuition. I became the first British outdoor photographer to advertise one-to-one tuition and there it was borne, a style of tuition specifically designed for discerning photographers of all abilities and from all walks of life.

All one-to-one tuition days are confirmed by arrangement, field-based in and around the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales. As one would expect only the highest standard of tuition can be expected in order to fast track your skill set and techniques to the high standard set by myself in producing images for many of the world's leading publications, stock agencies and media professionals.

Each one-to-one tuition day is customised to benefit the precise needs and requirements of you, the paying client. This is an opportunity to enhance above all your technical and your creative vision, after all the day is all about you taking great images and being inspired. Instruction is custom-tailored to your needs and desires. Tuition includes but is not limited to the following topics:

  • Composition and design
  • Creating images with impact
  • Understanding the attributes of light
  • Understanding auto and manual exposure
  • Exposure in difficult light conditions
  • Creating atmosphere
  • Nature and landscapes field practices
  • Wildlife photography techniques and field craft
  • Macro techniques for beginners and advanced photographers alike
  • Portfolio analysis and review
