Is the holiday suitable for beginners? Though advice will always be on hand, this is essentially a photographic opportunity holiday, not a tuition workshop. It's also an opportunity to work alongside one of today's leading professional natural history photographers on a professional shoot. Beginners and those wanting to brush up their photographic skills and technique would strongly be advised to attend an individual tuition day in order to make the most of the numerous outstanding photographic opportunities that will present themselves.

What equipment will I require? This photographic holiday is suitable for both digital SLR users only. A range of lenses will be required for wildlife, close-up and landscape photography. An ideal lens would be 100-400mm focal length. A tripod is essential while beanbags can be filled with material obtained locally.

Will there be much walking involved? Most of our photographic forays will involve short walks over predominantly flat ground though occasionally the ground may by covered be stones and interspersed by rocks typical of the Iberia.

Level of fitness is required? This holiday is suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and likes warm weather.

What will the climate be like? Weather in the Algarve region of Portugal is warm throughout the year with virtually no winter. We have timed our week long photographic holidays to coincide with the maximum opportunity to photograph the key species and avoiding the extreme temperatures of mid-summer. Temperatures ranging from 18ºC - 25ºC are typical with low humidity. Clothing suitable for hot climates is highly recommend together with stout walking shoes. Sun tan and aftersun lotions are also highly recommend. Evenings can be surprisingly chilly and a jumper or light fleece are recommended if venturing outside. Please note that we aim to be out at any given location pre-dawn and again before sunset to ensure our chances of obtaining outstanding images in the best possible light is maximised.

Should you have any questions or require further information please do not hesitate to call Geoff directly or email
